Most Popular Belize Diving Sites

Belize Dive Haven was built to be a resort on the Turneffe Atoll for scuba divers from around the world to stay and spend time doing their favourite activity, but it’s much more than that. When you make the decision to stay at Belize Dive Haven, you’ll have the opportunity to experience some of the most incredible scuba diving sites in Belize, and quite possibly the world.

Sayonara

If you ask scuba divers why they got into diving, many of them will tell you it was the excitement of exploring shipwrecks that drew them in. That insight is what makes this one of our guests’ favourite scuba diving sites in Belize. The Sayonara is a passenger and cargo ship that was intentionally sunk in 1985 to promote reef development and has since become home to many schools of fish, rope and barrel sponges, and large heads of coral. It’s the perfect location to capture some breathtaking photographs and video footage.

The Elbow

Nestled just off of the southern tip of Turneffe Atoll, the elbow is one of the most biodiverse scuba diving sites in Belize. Divers can see a plethora of unique marine life including, but definitely not limited to, barracudas, Atlantic spadefish, and dolphins. This incredible dive site should only be visited on a calm day due to its location, but it’s well worth the wait.

The Great Blue Hole

As the name suggests, this is one of the greatest scuba diving sites in not just Belize, and the entire world. This 300-meter wide, 125-meter deep sinkhole has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO, and has become a sought-after dive location for expert divers all around the world. This breathtaking site is home to nurse sharks and giant groupers, but its awe-inspiring size and abys-like depth is what leaves a lasting impression on everyone who dives there.

These sites have become like a second home to us, and we believe they are some of the best in the world, but don’t take our word for it here’s what our guests have to say:

Greatest diving in Turneffe – Maxwell M.

Really nice place, being there feels like you have left your troubles behind and you get to relax. It has a beautiful view of the reef. If you love diving and relaxing… this is the place to unwind – Arma A.

On many of our dives, we saw reef sharks, several different species of turtles, eagle rays, stingrays, and dolphins – Paul K.
