How Long is Diving Season in Belize?

What makes Belize so attractive to divers is that the diving season never ends—you can explore sites any time of year, thanks to the steady and warm water temperatures. Diving between August and October, you can expect the water to reach up to 84.2°F but rarely does the water temperature go below 78.8°F, even in January and February—making it an attractive place to dive for novice and advanced divers.

Whale Shark Diving Season

Although large and imposing, these sharks are actually quite docile and their migration through Belize attracts divers each and every year. Placencia is the only place divers get the chance to interact and photograph whale sharks. The best chance of catching a glimpse of these gentle giants is between March and May, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly if you want to see these majestic creatures.

Rainy Diving Season

June to November is considered the rainy/green season, but don’t let that deter you from exploring all the pristine dive sites Belize has to offer. Even during the rainy season, it’s unlikely you’ll experience consecutive days of rain and sporadic showers won’t affect off-shore dives or even visibility.

Enjoy the never-ending diving season in Belize and book your getaway with Belize Dive Haven—a luxury dive resort located on Turneffe Atoll, just steps away from the largest living barrier reef in the world.
