Best Kept Diving Spot in Belize

Diving in Belize and the Great Blue Hole go hand-in-hand and many people travel here specifically to undertake this highly technical and magical dive. While it’s a once-in-lifetime experience, an often overlooked—but equally magical—dive spot is the Aquarium on Long Caye.

Long Caye is an island only 8 miles from the Great Blue Hole. The Aquarium is a well-known dive spot among locals and the reef there is referred to as a table-top formation. When diving the Aquarium, you can expect to see schools of Bermuda chubs, sergeant majors, creole wrasse and trumpet fish. There are also brain coral, purple fans and sea plumes to explore in this high-visibility diving spot. This spot is often overlooked because tour operators working from the mainland prefer to take their customers to Half-Moon Caye after diving the Great Blue Hole, leaving the Aquarium as a hidden gem.

At Belize Dive Haven, we have our own private boats that can easily transport our guests to the Aquarium. While it takes hours for divers travelling from the mainland to reach Long Caye, because of our proximity, we can have our guests to the Aquarium in only about 30 minutes—leaving more time for exploring underwater.

Did you know we’re offering deeply discounted diving packages during our pre-opening phase?  Take advantage of this limited-time promotion before the price increases in the new year.
