Belize always tops the list of best places to dive in the world—mostly because of the Great Blue Hole. Divers from around the world come to see the site Jacques Cousteau made famous in the 1970s and to explore the more than 120 meters of stalactites, Midnight Parrotfish, and Caribbean reef sharks. While many argue the Great Blue Hole is the best place to dive in Belize, there are other equally amazing sites to explore.
The Long Caye Aquarium
Often overlooked, the Long Caye Aquarium is the best place to dive if you want to capture your adventure through photographs or videos. This shallow dive site has high visibility and is filled with colorful coral and fish.
Half Moon Caye Wall
Half Moon Caye Wall is the best place to dive in Belize if you want to see a varied amount of sea life. When diving, be prepared to encounter everything from garden eels, eagle rays and sea turtles to groupers, yellowtail snappers and razorfish.
Sayonara
The Sayonara was a transport boat intentionally sunk in 1985 to create an artificial reef. Diving about 15 meters down, you’ll find that the wreck is now almost completely covered in coral and sponges and is home to schools of colorful fish, coral shrimp, fire clams, and crabs.
Many divers come to Belize to see the Great Blue Hole, but countless other dive sites in the area are just as breathtaking. Belize Dive Haven Resort offers luxury accommodations and proximity to some of the best diving in the area.
