When you stay at Belize Dive Haven Resort, the best reef diving is only meters from the beach. The resort is built on a section of Turneffe Atoll that has unapparelled Reef access, so you can walk to the water and dive right in, a luxury few other resorts in Belize can offer.
The Reef is visible from aerial views and is shown in this map as grey areas.
One of the reasons Sir Hakimi chose the exact spot on Turneffe Atoll to build his dive resort, is its proximity to the Belize Barrier Reef. During a trip to Belize, Sir Hakimi sheltered overnight near the future site of Belize Dive Haven Resort. When he woke up the next morning, he took a dive and was astounded at the diversity of reefs and marine life, so close to shore. From that one trip—Sir Hakimi knew where his new resort was going to be built.
Belize Reef Diving
The Belize Barrier Reef is a diverse ecosystem where about 70 hard coral species and over 35 soft coral species have been identified. You’re also likely to run into one of the 500 different types of fish that call the Reef home including grouper, porcupine fish, tarpon, barracuda, cowfish and yellowtail snapper.
Close to the Great Blue Hole
Another advantage of staying at Belize Dive Haven is that it’s only 22 miles from one of the most sought-after dive sites in the world, the Great Blue Hole. Most people have to take a day trip from the mainland to reach the Blue Hole and spend close to 3 hours traveling to the destination and then another 3 hours travelling back. However, when you stay at Belize Dive Haven, you can reach the breathtaking site quickly—letting you spend more time enjoying the Blue Hole or relaxing at the resort after a full day of diving.
Belize Dive Haven Resort is a truly unique diving center in that it combines the luxury of a world-class resort with the unbelievable proximity to once-in-a-lifetime diving—including the best reef diving.
Belize Dive Haven Resort is located in the pristine Turneffe Atoll, just 30 kilometers offshore from Belize City. As part of the Belize Barrier Reef, the Atoll consists of creeks, lagoons, mangrove islands, and cayes. It’s home to over 500 species of fish, 65 different species of stony corals as well as birds, turtles, manatees, and dolphins.
