Planning a Belize diving vacation can be hectic. To ensure you have a stress-free trip, keep the following tips in mind:
Have a Valid Passport
Please check the expiry date of your passport well in advance of your trip. Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months past the date of your scheduled trip or you could risk being denied entry into the country. Most visitors, including those from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and most Caribbean and European Union countries, do not need a visa to enter Belize. Please check with your local consulate office for more information.
Be Aware of the Departure Tax
For non-Belizean residents, there is a departure tax of $35 USD when leaving the country. Some airlines include this tax in their ticket prices, but if they do not, you will need to pay the fee— in cash —before departing Belize. Please check with your airline prior to leaving for your trip, but it’s always a good idea to have money to pay the departure tax just in case.
Purchase Insurance
We always recommend that guests purchase travel insurance when visiting Belize. The proper insurance can cover the costs associated with missed flights, having to cancel a trip due to illness or emergency, and any medical care required while out of your home country. When planning a Belize diving vacation, please read the travel insurance policy carefully and ensure that it does not exclude scuba diving.
